Deinterlace filter for ME?

Hi,

YouTube contains a lot of tutorials, where they are advised to interpret the interlaced video, and then encode it as a progressive one. Obviously, this deep misconception exists, since the ME does not contain any filter for deinterlacing. It is possible to add it long ago or allow the use of installed filters for the Premiere and AE in the encoder.

Thanks

AFAIK, we duplicate the which ever field is "kept". So if the clip has Upper Field First like most broadcast HD files and you export to 1080P 25, only the first fields info is kept.

Third party filters (like RE:Vision's fieldskit) is the only way to control the interlace-method.

Usually "automatically" means the absence of any control over this process. What method is used for automatic deinterlacing?

Thanks

Here are some options from another popular encoder.

If the input is interlaced and the output is progressive, AME should automatically do the deinterlacing. You can confirm your source field order using "Interprete Footage".
