We are working on HTML5 Animations, and ever since they killed Flash where I could just copy and FLV with my 3D rendered Video with alpha channel onto the timeline(!!) and export the whole thing, it feels like beeing back at the Stoneage trying to use workarounds, that try to use masking in realtime, and breaking because of different colorprofiles on the client side, or simply trying to use spritesheet PNGs oder PNG Sequences, that are always just too huge, no matter how much I Tiny PNG them! We need that HEVC with Alpha Please!!!!
This HEVC file is glitchy in PrPro and AEfxs 2022 default importers but works fine with Influx Importer (paid 3rd party plugin) https://www.autokroma.com/Influx
Warren I don't see any alpha channel there 😞 With which software can you see an alpha channel in this file ? Might be something specific to Apple and not supported by anyone else
Attached is a sample HEVC with Alpha movie that we created by rendering Apple ProRes4444 with Alpha from After Effects and then using Encode Selected Video Files in the Finder for macOS 11.6 and then choosing HEVC 2160p with Preserve Transparency enabled in the Encode Media dialog box (also attached).
For those interested in HEVC with Alpha, there's a comment on the Adobe Community Support Forums that this is under review, but there is no news as to when it might be implemented. More votes should help.
