I need to be able to batch modify colorspace in "source settings" for Prores Raw clips in Media Enco

I need to be able to batch modify "Source Settings" on ProRes Raw clips in Media Encoder. Currently the colorspace for ProRes Raw clips has to be set on a per clip basis by right-clicking clips in the Media Encoder queue and choosing Source Settings and then setting the colorspace as desired (the colorspace always defaults to Rec709). If I select multiple ProRes raw clips and try to modify Source Settings, the change is applied only to the first clip in the selection. I need to render hundreds of clips using the Sony slog3/sgamut3.cine colorspace setting but as it is, they will all have to be modified one at a time. It also does not make sense to that colorspace is segregated into a separate "source settings" dialog - it should be a setting that is set and stored as part of the encoder preset settings. I cannot use the "generate proxy" feature directly from Premiere because I cannot store the desired prores raw colorspace setting in the ingest/encoder preset. Please fix this. Move Prores Raw colorspace settings into the encoder preset settings, so it can be saved as part of the encoder preset and then batch applied to all clips in the queue. Thank you.

Hi Bryan,

My apologies for the very late response. I've starting working on reviewing older requests and yours is one.

I like your suggestion a lot. (I had one of the first Canon C200s and wrote our article on using its raw format, including how to change the source settings on multiple clips.) It's actually a suggestion and a bug report: you point out that AME permits you to change source settings on multiple clips but it only actually changes the first clip.

I'm checking to see if we already have a feature request in our backlog for your suggestion. If not, I'll create one. Of course, that doesn't mean you'll see it in the next version of Media Encoder but it'll be on our radar and, since I'm the benevolent dictator of Media Encoder (i.e., the product manager), I've got a decent amount of say in what we do.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Hi Bryan,

I want to provide an update for you on this issue.

Unfortunately, due to the way we handle source settings in Media Encoder right now, it's not a simple change to make it possible to apply source settings to multiple files. In the short term, we are going to remove the ability to choose Source Settings when multiple files are selected; that's a bug because it implies that multiple files can be changed simultaneously when in fact that does not work.

However, your very reasonable request is still something we are going to figure out how to do. I  don't have a date for when this will be done - we need to do more investigation - but I will update this request when I have more info.

Thanks again,

Fergus

Yes please! Just got a few hundred Prores RAW files and found out this frustrating current workflow of doing each one individually.
