Did this ever get fixed for Media Encoder?

I am happy to report that the "reimport into project" issue in Export Panel is supposed to be fixed in the latest Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Media Encoder Beta. Please give it a try and let us know.

The Premiere Pro Team is looking into the isssue. Thanks for your patience.

Ah ok, I didn't think about that. I guess the only way they could do it if an 'import into project' checkbox would only appear if an active project was open within Premiere. Probably not worth the hassle, but keep me posted anyways cheers.

Because AME is primarily a transcoder, Premiere Pro "owns" the project and weird things can happen when the encoding finishes, e.g. Premiere Pro is not running any more. There are a lot of ugly edge cases in this scenario. It is much safer if Premiere Pro is the app in control.

I have forwarded your request to the Premiere Pro team that owns this functionality. I'll keep you posted.

Sorry I meant - if this function has adverse effects why are we able to do it through Premiere?

That doesn't make any sense at all though. If we export from Premiere, when we designate the file path the file saves to that place and checking the import to project box means the file appears in our projects automatically. If modifying the project has adverse side effects then why are we able to do it through Premiere and not AME? It's exactly the same process?

After discussing with the team, we will not add the option into AME since modifying projects has more side effects. I was still assuming that you were referring to the Export Panel.

Thanks bud! Yeah when I spoke with Adobe helpdesk they said it looked odd it wasn't there and said to post about it here.

Very much appreciate it and for your prompt response. Cheers!
