It would be great if I could select text that's already been typed so I can edit it. For example, a paragraph that's been typed and I want to make one word bold or change the font, it seems the only way I can do it is by deleting it and retyping.

    Could you provide more information or a screenshot? Text editing is available in Illustrator on the web. Could it be possible your paragraph is from a flattened image/file?
