I set FMS3.0 dev up and running on Windows server 2003. Then I wrote a little flash app which publishing the video to server for recording using "ns.publish(video_message_1100285, "record");". I am using "live" application. On server's live log: it reads "Application doesn't have permissions for server-side record/append of streams; access denied to stream video_message_1100285." The working dir is default config: LIVE_DIR = C:\Program Files\Adobe\Flash Media Server 3\applications\live I double checked it, everyone has the write access to this dir. Anyone can help for this issue? Many thanks! Alex
Hello experts, We would like to make use of Flash Media Server as our streaming server to make a live video broadcast on the website. Bit rate 500 kb/sec is the video quality requirement. Is that mean each session will use up 500kb? We expect there will be 1000 concurrent sessions to our website to see the live broadcast online. Is that mean 500kb x 1000 = 500MB bandwidth will be used at that period of time? We urgently need to know if there is any configuration / settings in the server to reduce the cost to pay for the internet (we may need to pay for a 1GB broadband which is expensive) without making the video quality poor. Any idea? -FATKUEN
Fresh install of FMS3 (paid version). Other than the setup settings, I haven't modified anything. I have a commercial chat/video product that the instructions state to deposit the associated files in the /applications directory....I have done so. Whenever I try to use/access the apps, I get the flash screen but the apps never seem to connect. In looking at the /var/log/messages as well as the FMS logs...I see the following: Feb 12 17:36:35 srv7 Adaptor[22794]: Listener started ( _defaultRoot__edge1 ) : 1935/v4 Feb 12 17:37:18 srv7 Javascript[23011]: Connection rejected by server. Reason : [ Server.Reject ] : (_defaultRoot_, _defaultVHost_) : Application (flashcoms5_videochat/_definst_) is not a valid signed application; loading access denied. I'm not sure whay I am getting this as I have set no restrictions (host/app/IP etc). Any guidance/pointers would certainly be appreciated. Thanks
I ran a broadcast last night and got to test out our new Win 2003 Server + FMIS 3 setup. We had issues with audio breaking up and I did some logging for diagnostics. I was hoping that the upgrade from Win 2000 + FMS 2 would resolve our audio issues, but it has not. Details: * 3.0 Ghz Dual processor, dual-core Xeon server w/ 2 Gb RAM * Windows 2003 Server * FMIS 3 default installation w/ application scope set to "inst" * Audio-only stream, Audio rate: 11 Khz (31 kbps per client) * Server's CPU usage was consistently at 3-4% * Server's memory remained at 1.3Gb/2Gb available * A large portion of clients may have dial-up, satellite, municipal wireless, rural DSL Timeline: 8:00 - broadcast started w/ about 250 users connected 8:16 - 300 users connected, major audio breakups (5-10 seconds of silence, back on for a couple seconds, then silence again, garbled audio) Lasted about 3 minutes 8:19 - CPU usage jumped to 25% briefly and audio came back to a consistent level 8:37 - A few 1/2 second
I am currently using the developers version to do some testing, but my plan is to purchase the FMSS 3 license. In reading the "readme.txt" file, it gives instructions for deploying an unsigned vod service. If I edit parameters in the Application.xml file, will it work in FMSS 3? Also, how do I configure my .connect(rtmp://myserver.com/???) connection string to use <streams> that I have added to the Application.xml file? I can access FLVs in the default "media" folder, but I cannot access FLVs from locations defined by my <streams>. Here's a sample of my <streams>low;C:\inetpub\wwwroot\videos\low</streams> Your assistance is greatly appreciated. Brady Roberts
Hello all, i m using Influxis server.I have used these lines of code to create text file at server side:-> var myFile = new File("log_file.txt"); if(myFile.exists) myFile.open("text", "append"); else myFile.open("text", "create"); myFile.writeln("Hello world!"); above code is working fine but i want to download this "log_file.txt" file at client side. How can i do this? Plese help me on this issue
Hello everybody, reading fms3 docs I found this: Edge servers are a good solution for one-way video on demand (vod), one-way live events, and one-way live 24x7 streams. Edge servers enhance security, distribute the load of connection requests, and conserve bandwidth and system resources for high-volume one-way streaming. Now, I'm developing a videoconf app where a teacher can see some students but each student can see just the teacher. I would like to undestand why edge/origin solution is a good solution just for ONE WAY live events and not also for two way apps like a videoconf app. Thanks a lot A.
Hello, I'm trying to create an application system based on FMIS, and my basic model involves having multiple instances of one application running, and managing those instances with another application. I believe that I can implement my management with appropriately configured .asc files and NetConnection objects, but I want the application instances to be dynamically named, and to retrieve these instances in real time from the server. Based on my reading of the Administration API Reference, it seems that the getActiveInstances function should fulfill this need. However, I'm having trouble getting it to work. I've tried to implement it this way: var objResult = new Object(); objResult.onResult = function() { /*trace("Result :" + this.toString()); for (var obj in this) { trace(obj + " = " + this[obj]); }*/ trace("Results :" + this.data); } objResult.onStatus = function() { /*trace("Status :" + this.toString()); for (var obj in this) { trace(obj + " = " + this[obj]); }*/ trace
First: I installed FMS onto my IIS web server. I selected all the default settings. When I rebooted all my websites stopped, and they would not restart. Later I found the problem, it was because FMS was using port 80, and not letting IIS to run. I had to stop the FMS service, so my IIS could start. What went wrong? If ever get the above fixed, how can I stream FLV files. Please Help. Server : Flash media Server 2.0 Windows 2003 server web edition OS IIS Have Cold Fusion 8 running
Hello. Can somebody please help me with "connection error" from a remote pc? Streaming LIVE from my webcam to my website. When I enter the website from my pc, everything works great, but when I go to the same website from another pc, I get everything but the video (transparent)(AS3) and connection error (AS2)! The FMS3 is intalled on my local pc. Where am I doing it wrong? I use Flash CS3, FME2 and FMS3(developer) GP
One of the features for FMS 3 is that you can "stream right out of the box". Can anyone tell me how this is done?
hello friends, I want to make web application which will capture the video from the camera attached in client's machine.I have read that it is possible to racord stream from the camera using media server. Is it actually requires flash media server.? is there any other option to record the video without using Media server? can you help me to find a tutorial regarding this. pls help me... regards
I have flash client app built using CS3 with AS3. All I'm doing is: // use mic for recording var mic:Microphone = Microphone.getMicrophone(); var nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection(); nc.addEventListener(NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS, onNetStatusChange); function someButtonClick() { nc.connect("rtmp://servername/app_name/instance_name_1") } function onNetStatusChange(evt:NetStatusEvent):void { if(nc.connected) { var ns:NetStream = new NetStream(nc); ns.attachAudio(mic); // Start publishing to direcotry ns.publish("audio_file", "record"); } } The swf is on my local machine. The FMS is running elsewhere. Looking at the FMS2 admin console, I see the bandwidth spike for a tiny second then drop back down to 0. The Clients total count also goes up by one but the Active clients remains at 0. Is this somehow an authentication issue? I'm not seeing any clients get rejected though. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have been able to successfully create an application and stream an h264 file. The problem comes when I use exactly the same application to access an FLV. It will not play. The only differences I can see: - the server reports the FLV as 'playing live' - with the FLV the onMetaData handler is never called On the same server the sample VOD application does work with both types of files. Thoughts?
Hi: I found the product information between FMIS and FMSS very confusing--really lacking. The Developer download cannot help me understand the difference! Basically, I would like to know if I can write any Server Side Scripts (.AS), for example, calling a database and getting more information about the users before streaming media files to them, in FMSS? Or is FMIS the only way to go? Ken
Hi, I tried this morning the new release of fms, fms3, but encounter an issue on the metadata. I tried this : dummy=new Object(); stream.client=dummy; dummy.onMetaData=getMeta; private function getMeta (mdata:Object):void { trace (mdata.duration); } Burt I got an error : ArgumentError: Error #1063: Non-correspondance du nombre d'arguments sur tt/getMeta(). 1 prévu(s), 63 détecté(s). As you see, I got 63 args instead of 1. Can you help me ? Regards
Can I use a Network Storage for "Application directory for the virtual host" ? When I use a network storage(network drive is "z:"), It occurs failure. (Eventviewer 1 : "Application directory does not exist : z:\sikim") (Eventviewer 2 : Using default application directory : E:\Program Files\Macromedia\Flash Media Server 2\conf\_defaultRoot_\_defaultVHost_) How can I solve the problem..??
Hi, I want to view the h264 stream from a webcam into my flashplayer. Do I need FMS to do that? I mean a simple live viewing, no recording. I suppose I have to use the Camera class. Thanks in advance, Pascal
So I'm not exactly sure why it is happening, but when I record a stream over my network to the FMS on some occasions the stream pauses and then resumes, sometimes as much a second or two later. I've set the buffer on the client side to 13 which I have no idea is helping or hurting. I've tried setting the buffer to 30 on the server side. I have no idea if this is helping either. So I would love any advice on the best ways to look and see if it's a buffer issue or not. Please help. Floyd
I am relatively new to the FMS. I was trying a live cast sample application. The problem I am facing is that although the client side code does a "nc.close" (and the status is also received appropriately at the client), the connection is not closed at the FMS. I tried a lot of googling but couldnt find anything to force the close at the server. Is this a unique case, or is this behaviour normal. If it's normal, then how do I close the connection at the server gracefully? Siva.
I could not make streaming bitmapdata using Flash Media Server 3. I am using the default connection, and continues giving the same issue of conversion. This code: private function init():void { if(nc){ nc.close() } nc = new NetConnection(); NetConnection.defaultObjectEncoding = flash.net.ObjectEncoding.AMF3; nc.addEventListener( NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS, netStatus ); nc.connect("rtmp://localhost/fmsdemo/demo", "demo"); } private function netStatus( event:NetStatusEvent ):void { switch( event.info.code ) { case "NetConnection.Connect.Success": _labelStatus.text = "Status: Conexão realizada com sucesso!"; nc.client = this; users_so = SharedObject.getRemote("users_so", nc.uri, true); users_so.addEventListener( SyncEvent.SYNC, usersSyncHandler ); users_so.connect( nc ); users_so.client = this; break; }
I've been trying for two days to download the Linux version of the developer edition of this new product. However, whether you choose Linux or Windows, you always get the same zip file, and it does not appear to contain the contents for installing on Linux. I sent a message to Adobe support about this yesterday, and have heard nothing back, and the issue still persists. Makes it awfully hard to actually evaluate the product! Can't seem to find a more direct link to the file, either, and none of the topics I found on the forums that seemed to cover similar issues were helpful.
I'm just wondering if the FMS comes out of the box set up to use dual processors or if you need to set that in the configurations somewhere? Thanks in advance, Showcasefloyd
I am having one problem with my online FMS2 application (multi player card game). When I access it with one internet provider it works great, latency 20ms, but with second internet provider (same speed) latency is up to 30seconds and more. Is it possible that things will be different with Flash Media Server 3?
Hi, I'm working on FMS 3. on the main file in onAppStart function i wrote: application.allowDebug = true; but when trying to check a SharedObject i have i see it is stored but on the property it says No Data and on the right upper side i have this triangle sign that says "faild to make a debug connection, check that the application is in debug mode" how do i do that? please help, thanks in advance....
