I was told by my reseller at PC Connection that Flash Media Server 3.0 and Flash Media Interactive Server 3.0 come with unlimited licenses and unlimited badnwidth use? Is this true? Also does purchaseing FMS 2.0 qualify for a free upgrade to 3.0 product?
I'm consulting for the leading global provider in telepresence, and urgently need to speak with a technical sales person, or similar, on certain aspects of FMS3 and how it stacks against the current solution my client is offering. I cannot find a link for such support. Please can someone contact me, or provide a recommended email address, via reply to this post, so we may talk off-line. Many thanks. Will
We have developed a chat application that allows you to do video streaming. Application works fine on PC however it can not share webcam on the Mac using Media Server application. When you get to the point when Flash player ask you if you want to Allow sharing of your Camera and Microphone you hit allow and then you get a blank pages. My question is if this is something that is not supported or it equires sme code changes? I was under impression that as long as you have flash player on your computer you should be able to share your camera using Flash player.
I am having some problems getting to the videos in my AppsDir. I have been searching the forums and documents for an answer, but no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated! In this file C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Flash Media Server 2\conf\_defaultRoot_\_defaultVHost_\Vhost.xml There is a line I modified: <AppsDir>${VHOST.APPSDIR};E:\videos</AppsDir> I just added the ";E:\videos" to the ${VHOST.APPSDIR} that was already there. ${VHOST.APPSDIR} applies to the first directory listed directly below Picks up movies here C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Flash Media Server 2\applications\Test1\streams\_definst_ and here E:\videos\Test2\streams\_definst_ just fine I can get to a movie called "C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Flash Media Server 2\applications\Test1\streams\_definst_\testrt.flv" like: <track> <title>Rob hill climbing - SAN</title> <location>rtmp://127.0.0.1/Test1</location> <identifier>testrt</identifier> <meta re
I downloaded the developer version of FMS2 and install it on Windows XP. There is not any error or warning during the installation process, and I can startup the administrate server and media server. But I can not connect to the media server from my own Flex application. Flex application like: ... var nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection(); nc.addEventListener(NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS, OnRTMPStatusChanged); nc.connect("rtmp://localhost/test1"); ... Server code like: (in applications\FirstApp\test1\main.asc) application.onConnect=function(client) { trace("some client connected"); //this.rejectConnection(client); application.acceptConnection(client) } Does the OS version cause the problem?
Okay, so I'm working on this sign language test in Flash 8. The subject's responses are currently being saved as individual files for each question - so I have 40 files for each subject. I could save them all in one file, but the problem is that I need to be able to retrieve just the part for each question, rather than the entire video. Is there some way to append a video on the end of the previous video, only with a flag between them indicating this is where one ends and the other starts. I know you can do this in the Flash Video Encoder manually, but the whole point here is not to have to do that. The videos will most likely be retrieved sequentially, so I just need some indicator that the question has finished. Anyone know how this might be accomplished??
I want to have a media library of videos to stream. I downloaded a sample project from Adobe and ran it on my local machine. The application runs fine on my machine and I'm a happy camper. I post the same project/files onto a a Windows 2000 server. FMS is installed on the C drive while the website stuff is posted on the D drive. For the meantime, I kept everything simple by putting my app (video_tutorial) in the Macromedia/applications folder on the C drive. On my local machine, I change my .fla to point to: rtmp:// *appropriate IP address* /video_tutorial . Now when I publish the .swf on my local machine, it fails. Do I need to post my html and .swf on an actual server to view properly? The Windows 2000 server only allows connections through port 80 (http) and 443 (https). I tried tunneling and manually setting my rtmp to *appropriate IP address*:80. I changed my .ini file to ADAPTOR.HOSTPORT = :1935,443,80 like another forum mentioned to do. Still no luck. At this point I don'
I'm trying to have the sharedobject textfield value in my swf (username) update the shared object on the fms itself constantly. This is the code I have so far, it only works until i type something but it doesnt update. I'm checking the SharedObjects pane in FMS admin to debug, I only see the value I set at the beginning. The purpose of doing this is because Im trying to reflect a value i have in realtime over and over, like seconds on a clock but its reading the value locally. Any help greatly appreciated. Here's the code. quote: // start var username:TextField; var my_nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection(); my_nc.connect("rtmp://myhost.com/test"); var myRemote_so = SharedObject.getRemote("mo", my_nc.uri, false); myRemote_so.connect(my_nc); myRemote_so.onSync = function(list) { for (var k in list) { trace("name = "+ list.name + ", event = " + list.code); } myRemote_so.data.username = username.text; } // end

Hi Guys, I have just started working with FMS and after spending many hours with tutorials and self education I'm finally getting started on my project. The project is a (fairly) simple e-education project between a Tutor and Student. I will no doubt have a few problems over the course of this project, but for now, I'm thinking ahead to a problem I can foresee already. The tutor and student both have an A/V stream, both are recorded to the server. After the lesson is finished, I will use the 'Total Video Converter' ( from this blog post) to convert the audio from both the tutor and student into mp3 files. What I need to do next is the tricky part. I need to combine / overlay the two mp3 files to create one mp3 that would result in the conversation of the lesson. Any ideas how I can do that? I'll be working on a Windows Server 2003 machine running IIS. Sorry for the long post, just wanted to be clear. Thank you in advance!
Hello I was wondering if someone could help me. I have a website that I am working on...and I would like to create some sort of video linkage where each picture when clicked on will play a different video in the same video spot. Like youtube has... where the viewers click on a picture and it plays each video in the same spot. If anyone knows of any good tutorials or any good direction to point me into please help.
We have installed the developer edition on FMS2 on a Windows 2000 server. We have been able to see a connection to an instance of our application. But, when we expect to see a video streaming there is nothing. We are unsure of which main.asc file to use in the root of our application FMS2 folder. There is no indication of any documentation regarding this technology that we are aware of that explains it to us in an elementary fashion - we just want to stream video for cry'n out loud! - Very frustrated but want to leverage this technology. Any help with this would be great especially any details regarding the server install and setup to use video streaming capabilities. Here is our AS3 code we are using: package { import flash.display.MovieClip; import flash.net.NetConnection; import flash.net.NetStream; import flash.net.ObjectEncoding; import flash.system.Security; import flash.media.Video; import flash.events.*; import flash.text.TextField; public class MyVideo extends Mov
Hi, I have see Flash Media Server 2.0.4 that I use to make multiplayer game with shared objects. Now there are 2 more servers called 1 - Flash Media Interactive Server 3 2 - Flash Media Streaming Server 3 I have read the detail but not the clear about these 2 products. Do that have Shared objects that we can use multiplayers games and does it have all the things that are in Media Server 2.0.4? Thanks
I see that Flash Media Server will work with either a windows server and a linux server. My question is, is there a windows FMS file I need to download or a Linux FMS file that I need to dowload? Or is there just one FMS program that will work on either windows or linux?
This one has driven me insane for days, but at least now I know what the problem is. It's really a Director-Flash8 xtra-FMS problem, but I figure the best chance for a solution is posting it here. The problem is this: The Director Flash 8 xtra update messes up remote shared object connections to FMS applications. The Management Console debugger does not show any SO properties ("no data"), and only the "clear" onSync event fires. The old Flash 7 xtra worked/works fine. To illustrate, I've tested the following code in the Director message window with both the v8 and v7 xtra (if you know Actionscript and not Lingo, it's still easy to figure out what happens here). It basically creates and connects a remote shared object on FMS: rrr = newObject("SharedObject") nnn = newObject("NetConnection") sss = "rtmp:/apptest01" -- app on locally running FMS er = nnn.connect(sss) put er -- 1 fff = rrr.getRemote("tester", nnn.uri, true) put fff -- <flash object> er = fff.connect(nnn) put er --1
Outside of the clunky media player component can someone give me guidance on how to setup a custom player with these functions. A counter/timer would be nice too but all I have is script for play and stop which looks like this: client_nc = new NetConnection(); client_nc.connect("rtmp://"+_level0.rtmpserver+"/fooserver/"); play_btn.onPress = function() { in_ns.close(); in_ns = new NetStream(client_nc); Replay_video.attachVideo(in_ns); in_ns.setBufferTime(5); in_ns.play("audio.mp3"); }; stop_btn.onPress = function() { in_ns.close(); }; I'm basically just looking to add some script to this to add a scrubber and a timer/clock if possible. Many thanks for any help in advance! Regards, -Kjup
Hi, fms developers. I need some help with Streams.setVirtualPath function. i know how to use vhost.xml but i cant use it in my case, cause we have a lot of directories. but i can dynamically compose path to my flvs. i found one function that, i think, can help me - Stream.setVirtualPath, but i dont understand how to use it. 1* so, for example, i have my flv here: /mnt/files/07/03/14/my_flv_file.flv 2* and i want to play it for all clients with that code: var s = Stream.get("ab"); // ?? Stream.setVirtualPath(); s.play("virtual_directory_name/my_flv_file", 0, -1, false); 3* i tried something like this: Stream.setVirtualPath("virtual_directory_name", "/mnt/files/07/03/14"); but with no success what im doing wrong?
Hi, I'm fairly new to Flash Communication server..so bear with me. I am working towards a high quality self-broadcasting system that allows users to record from a camera and then publish the video.. At present my UK shared server currently only runs FCS 1.5 I am currently recording a stream to the FCS and am having trouble getting any high quality results..However I tweak the Camera.setQuality I either get mosaicing or dropping frames/out of sych audio. Q1: Is this because of the video codec used on FCS 1.5? Does FCS 1.5 use VP6? Q2: Is there any way to improve this... or do I need to upgrade to Flash Media Server 2 hosting to get better results? Q3: as an alternative - is it possible to publish the Flash file as an EXE and capture the camera stream at a higher quality locally before uploading it? Thanks in advance for any help H.R.
Has Adobe a product to transfer wmv to flv format?
Hi, I was wondering when the FMS3 developer edition would be out because I need to know more in detail how the new plug-in architecture will integrate will other servers. I work for a company that is planning on buying some type of a Media Server whether it be like Wowza or wait for FMS3.
Does anyone have the installation procedure for the Flash Media Server on Redhat Enterprise 5. My platform is x86_64, but I assume I need the i386 libstdc++ or is it saying I cannot run it at all on 64 bit RHEL? Error message below: ./fmsini: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory ERROR: Your are running the Macromedia Flash Media Server installer on the wrong platform.
Hi, the problem is: Only on slow internet conections, When I call ns.pause() in the SWF, the event with code NetStream.Pause.Notify for this NetStream comes with a very big delay (about 20 seconds delay). And during this delay all commands like ns.resume() etc are ignored (put in the queue? which is executed after we receive NetStream.Pause.Notify). So this NetStream "freezes" druring this delay in the SWF. But we still can make NetConnection.call() which works immidiately during this delay. I tested this on the server stream file that requires about 30Kb/sec on client internet connection to play smothly, with real client connection speed of 10Kb/sec.
Hi, We've been using FMS2 to record user-generated content. FMS2 natively saves files in FLV format with Nellymoser encoded audio. I saw in the FMS3 press release that H.264 is mentioned for video, and HE-AAC for audio. Is there any information about the container file format? is it still FLV? something else? Is there any way we can evaluate some sample files? Thanks.
Hi, I have installed FMS 2 on Linux & it is running fine. All the ports are default i.e. FMS port is 1935 & Admin port is 1111. I want to view a video stream which is coming from a Webcam on a Windows XP machine which is running the Encoder. The only confusion I have is that if the URL to be provided to the encoder should look like this, rtmp://myhost.com:1935/myLiveApp/instance1 OR rtmp://myhost.com/myLiveApp/instance1 Also, on the client side(i.e. browser) I am using Flex VideoDisplay component to view this video stream, which of the above URLs should be the source of the video stream. Currently I have set up VideoDisplay as, <mx:VideoDisplay id="myVid" height="158" width="211" live="true" source="rtmp://myhost.com:1935/myLiveApp/instance1" autoPlay="false"/> I don't see the Video & the SWF in the browser opens an error saying "Error: 1000: Unable to make connection to server or to find FLV on server.". The additional factors which I suspect have a role are
