Hi, I've created a streaming flv that plays ok using a standalone player (Riva) and on my local server and web site. However there's a bit of sound distortion at the very beginning of the stream when played on my local server (this distortion is not in the flv). I''ve been assuming that it has something to do with the buffering?? but I can't seem to see any options to fix it. I'll gladly post my code... but I'm not even sure what code to focus on. This occurs regardless whether the audio comes directly from the flv - or if piped through a sound object (so the volume can be adjusted). If anyone thinks they know the cause of this distortion - I'd really appreciate some advise. Thanks kindly,
I are trying to archive our live chats. Recording them has not been a problem, but I don't like where they are saved. I want to save them in a virtual directory, but cannot get that to work. It seems to only work in the default Program File directory. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Dear List I'm looking into my options on the achieving the following: 1) A progressive download of an .flv file (we don't have media server, otherwhise we'd stream). 2) Once whole file is downloaded display all the cuepoints in the flv file on the timeline (with some sort of markers) 3) Markers get actionscript that when you click on them the movie seeks to this marker point and continues playing from there It seems like I can get everything working besides obtaining the cuepoints information. So far the only way of getting cuepoint information is by playing back the entire video in real time, which is very unpractical. I've tried using the onMetaData function but I get no information on the cuepoints, just an array of undefined elements. something like this: ------------------------------------------------ canSeekToEnd = true cuePoints = undefined, undefined, undefined, undefined, undefined, undefined, undefined, undefined, undefined, undefined, undefined, undefined, undefined, undefined, undef
I am working on an application that uses a main.asc plus two apps that connect with it. How can I tell when main has unloaded so I can be sure my edited copy is the one that's running? I know it's supposed to unload when the last client has disconnected, and I don't doubt that it is. The question is, how can I confirm this?
So I just purchased the flash media server yesterday and migrated the files and applications to the live site. And things just wont work. I have encoded videos in the definst folder, but nothing shows up. The site takes a really long time to load and often crashes my firefox. I have verified that the server is running and all the services are running. I am using a Red Hat Linux server. has anyone had this problem or does anyone have a suggestion to trouble shoot this problem. Also i cannot log into the admin console i am using the correct user and pwd.

Hi, My idea is to make an application to record songs on the fly. That is a user can play a song from my library and with his mic to sing along with the song. Now i want to capture those two signals (the sound from the player and the sound from the mic and record it with FMS to one .flv file. The way to capture the mic's sound i know, what i don't know is how to capture the sound produced by the player. Is there any way to record the souncards output through flash or do i have to do some sort of stream that specific sound to fms. Thanks in advance Dimitris
Hi all, Maybe this topic has been asked and answered before. But I have not found relevant information on this issue. So there it is: I found out that when the FMS service is running, it creates a lot of temporily files in the c:\windows\tempdirectory (the files are created in the name of mx_???.tmp where the ??? is hexadecimal value). I wonder is there any way to configure this including changing the directory and as well as set the number of tmp files where it can create. Furthermore, there may be a bug whereby after the service is manually stopped, the temporily fies are still being created by the services.exe where i believe is caused by a unsucessfully termination of thread(s). Please verify this. Any help would be appreciated. Lai
We are trying to record longer live streams on FMS 2.0 real-time by duplicating the stream on the FMS and recording plus broadcasting at the same time. The recording seems to work but for some strange reason FMS stops recording after the first 4-5 minutes without throwing any error. Any idea what might be causing this? Which settings should we check? Any assistance is highly appreciated. Here is the code portion that handles the recording ('play' is the stream that is published from the streaming client): var stream = Stream.get('broadcast/'+chid+'/'+date.getTime()); stream.owner = this; stream.onStatus = function(info) { if (info.code == 'NetStream.Play.UnpublishNotify') { application.saveVideo(this.owner, this.name, Stream.length(this.name)); } }; stream.record(); stream.play('channel.'+chid); Thank you.
Hi, We are setting up FMS and currently streaming works fine when running the applet from Flash itself or .exe locally. When we publish the applet to an html file and run it locally, it doesn't work. When opening the html from a web server it doesn't work. It doesn't matter if the html is on the same server as FMS or on another Web Server. Any help would be really appreciated. Stefan Arngrimsson
Hi guys, I just cant figure out why this wont mute. quote: var connection_nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection(); connection_nc.connect(null); var stream_ns:NetStream = new NetStream(connection_nc); viewer.attachVideo(stream_ns); streameMuted = false; stream_ns.play("media/mentorMedia/classes/" + _parent.classID + "/intro.flv"); butMute.onRelease = function() { if (!streamMuted) { stream_ns.receiveAudio(false); streamMuted = true; } else { stream_ns.receiveAudio(true); streamMuted = false; } }; Ideas?
hi,all I have a question. It is too hard. Who can help me,? Your advise is really helpful. My question is .. I create a video chat application and main.asc file in FMS2 It will be catched in (application.onDisconnect = function (clientObj) ) function when a client disconnect server , Send a message via shareobject in onDisconnect . Other clients will update user list after other clients get the message. But I find the ShareObject can not share in server and client. Codes in FMS main.asc application.onAppStart = function () { . .... sharedlist[0] = SharedObject.get("A_shared",true); .... } application.onDisconnect = function (clientObj){ sharedlist[0].data.textValue = "userlist";// sharedlist[0].setDirty("textValue"); } Codes in client : text_so = SharedObject.getRemote("A_shared", client_nc.uri, true); But I find shared object list in FMS_console. below Name type connections --------------------------------------- A_shared Stored 1 A_shared Temp 1 Server send mes
I've been trying to get help from the Adobe support #'s, but no one seems to have the answer for me. Currently we're running 3 Flash Communication Servers on W2003. Each has it's own dedicated machine. The way they're configured at present, when you call our flv script, it sends an rtmp call to our master server, which in turn chooses 1 of the 2 streamers to serve the content. This is all handled by an action script found in applications\controller named main.asc From what I've read so far over the last few days, this is similar to the edge/origin solution, except we're not handling the load balancing thru a router, nor are we running the volume of traffic to justify that kind of an investment. My other understanding is that the FMS setup is completely different from FCS, which leads me to my question should I plan to be able to reuse my current action script to handle my load balancing, or should I prepare myself for getting a new solution prepared? Again, I'm new to all this, so
Hello, I have a simple Webcam movie, publishing a live-video to an FMS 2.0.2 r51 dev. edition running on Debian 3.1r2 and then playing it back in another video-window. It works fine with rtmp and rtmpt, but with rtmps I get the "NetConnection.Connect.Failed" error. I've prepared a simple test case and gathered all infos here: http://pref.dyndns.org:8080/live/live.html The certificate has been created by me this way: openssl req -x509 -days 365 -newkey rsa:1024 \ -out self-signed-certificate.pem -keyout pub-sec-key.pem And put into defaultRoot_/Adaptor.xml: <HostPort name="edge1" ctl_channel=":19350">:1935,80,-443</HostPort> .....skipped.... <SSLCertificateFile>/home/afarber/certs/self-signed-certificate.pem</SSLCertificateFile> <SSLCertificateKeyFile type="PEM">/home/afarber/certs/pub-sec-key.pem</SSLCertificateKeyFile> <SSLPassPhrase>secret</SSLPassPhrase> <SSLCipherSuite>ALL:!ADH:!LOW:!EXP:!MD5:@STRENGTH</SSLCipherS
Hi to all, i'd need to convert a video to screen video v2 or v1 format, how can i dot it??? thanks to all
I'de be grateful to anyone who is able to offer Action script advice regarding how to capture and then email user input. Cheers
Hey Guys, I am developing a p2p video streaming project in my school. I have reached a point where the peer in the net gets the RAW BYTE STREAM. This raw byte stream is to be converted to Flash file format (.flv / SWF) for playing. Also the project demands that even if the file is not biffered and if the user wants to start the file playback from the non-buffered point of time it should happen. Can you guys please throw some light on this? Also is the conversion from raw byte stream to .flv / swf nothng but encoding??? Please help me with the basics. Thanks. Salil.
Im having trouble understanding where I put code exactly. Can I have global variables with serverside script? When I create a variable outside of any functions it doesnt seem to be able to be read from within application functions (like application.connect). Can anybody point me in the right direction of understand how this whole dynamic works?
Hello, I am interested in purchasing Flash Media Server from Adobe. The company I work for runs a two-hundred seat auditorium, and we would like to be able to broadcast events on the internet as an option for clients. This would involve live streaming, as well as recording the stream such that it can be played again at a later date. (i.e. The presentation is at 10am, and an encore presentation will be at 6pm.) Thus far, I, along with the IT department have determined FMS is the way to go simply because of the quality-vs.-size of FLV files, as well as the ability to embed the video into the website in a more aesthetically pleasing manor. These two factors have ruled out Real Player, and Windows streaming. The people in IT have downloaded the free demo version of FMS. We have so far been able to attach web-cameras (via. USB) and ran the included demonstrations, and tutorials. With success, I have been able see myself on my screen, record it, and play it back. In another sample, I was
I am wondering if Flash Media Server will run on FreeBSD. Thanks!
Hi all, I have a single source of input for video that needs to be published to a large number of viewers via the FMS. I am aware that Adobe proposes the use of the Edge and Origin servers for this kind of solutioning, however, I am unable to find much tutorial nor walkthrough to set up the network. Is anyone able to point me to a good guide on how to perform the setup on this? Alternatively, I am thinking that this can also be done if I can upload my input source to one single FMS instance and replicate the inputs (perhaps through replication) to the other FMS instance. Does anyone has any known approach to this, and maybe a even better approach or solution to the problem. Thanks a million!
I'm new to FCS, so pardon my ignorance, or lack of correct terminology. We're running Flash Communication Server v1.5. We have a hard limit of 2500 peak users, and 10Mbps. It's been a relatively maintenance free system for the last couple of years, but as of late we're hitting the 10Mbps threshold constantly. The only documentation I've been able to find covers the new Flash Media Server 2.0, which allows you to reduce the number of peak users and increase the bandwidth limit accordingly. License Profiles Unfortunately, I've been unable to find anything similar for FCS. Can anyone tell me if this is possible, and if so, how to configure it. Or is our option to upgrade to the new FMS? Not opposed to the upgrade, but would hate to have to spend the money when this one's been so trouble free.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to accomplish this? We want to trigger a 30second FLV video stored on FMS to play during a live web stream. We want to cue the via some command at the web cam encoder. Suggestions please
We have been working at testing a virtual meeting room based on the AVPresence component that came with FMS developer edition and have had some good results. We had some very promising tests with participants across the country and even from Africa and Europe having very useable experiences. But we have also experienced inconsistant performance including audio being out of sync with the video (by 10 or 20 seconds), the video displaying in "slow motion" or some participants experiencing long delays in receiving the video/audio stream (30 to 45 seconds) between one person asking a question and the other participant hearing the question. Some of the longest delays were to participants in Brazil (the FMS is located in Canada) but we also saw unexceptable performance to computers on the same network as the server and also to some participants using the internet cable provider as the server is connected to. The problems have occurred with only 2 or 3 connections so it is not running into
