To (really) protect your code, use JsxBin Obfuscator for ExtendScript created by Marc Autret. Even Marc won't be able decompile it then!

This file is only 7kb in size! I don't think it can contain any useful layout data. Old versions of Indy — like CS3/4 — can open PageMaker 6.0-7.0. I tried, but it can't open it and throws an error.

I believe this property is not accessible to scripting, but I found a workaround here by rob day. I didn't test it, but as I can see, the approach is: first — invoke the menu, then — set the text frame's insetSpacing property (the 1st element of the array for the top offset).

"A new user? really?! Why would this help?" It's a good idea! In my experience, this often helps solve problems, and not only with scripts. It's easy to temporarily create a new account, try it, and if it doesn't help, remove it. If it works, it means something is wrong with the InDesign installation, prefs, etc. -- not the script. Also, you'll get a 'clean' InDesign version for a new user account: no need to reinstall it. Are these scripts in binary format? If not, you can install VSCode (Mac & Windows) or ESTK (only Windows), and try running the script line-by-line from there to pinpoint the place in the code where it hangs/crashes. Ideally, in such a situation, if the developer would debug scripts locally on your computer via TeamViewer. Also, can you try running it in the save version but on another computer? Did you try trashing prefs in InDesign?

Did you try to test it using the example files I posted next to the script? I wrote this script for my client, and it worked as expected. Additionally, I have retested both scripts in InDesign 2024 for Windows, and they work on my end, both with & without the argument files. Note: characters may look identical but have different Unicode values — e.g., English a (0061) and Cyrillic a (0430). That's a common source of issues for those who use non-English characters.

Prompt: getCn ,GetCsp is undefined First, you define these variables in the 1st line as globals. Then inside the makeDialog function, you redefine them as locals -- note var before them -- so they exist only in the function's scope. Finally, you use them (globals) in alerts, but global variables remain untouched -- undefined.

"Are you both using the standard Greek polytonic keyboard that comes with macOS? And using it as described here?" I use the standard Greek (monotonic) keyboard. As Nikos does, I also type ; (semicolon) followed by a vowel. I just tried the polytonic keyboard and it works for me as well, though the keyboard layout is a little different than in the instructions. (I'm on Sequoia 15.5). However, all these breathing marks are too much for me. I agree with Joel and suggest to temporarily add a new (clean) user account, log in and start InDesign to see if the problem gone/remains. If it's gone, trashing InDesign preferences may help.

Γεια σου Νίκος! I have to type a lot in Greek in InDesign (in version 19.5) because my daughter goes to a Greek school and I have to help her with homework. I have no issues with accented characters at all. See the attached screen record. Since she's on summer vacation, I lost my knack a little, but it works as expected for me. Here I wrote a quick & dirty script that adds two centered guides — horizontal and vertical — centered to the currently active page. (Margins are note taken into account.) main();

It's not as simple as it seems! 🙂 InDesign text may contain and, in most cases, does contain special (hidden) characters like anchored objects, indexes, xrefs, etc. To handle them effectively by script, I wrote a couple of functions and posted them here.
