here are the specs of the machine

2011

21.5 in screen size

intel core i7 2.8ghz

8gb of ram (Should i upgrade the ram?)

1tb of hdd storage

You're looking at a 7 year old computer. How happy you will be will have a lot to do with your performance expectations.

What graphics card does it have? That may be a problem/deal breaker if not supported by Premiere.

What kind of ports does it have? Thunderbolt, Firewire, USB1 or USB2?

The i7 processor is a positive, you would also want to put in as much RAM as is cost effective for you to do. You would also want to get fast external storage, connected to the computer with a fast connection,  to take the load off the internal storage

would a late 2013 imac with the same specs be better than? just a newer version of soft ware.
