Hello guys

I have a AMD 3900X

32gb 3300 Ram

AsRock X570 Pro4

and a Nvme 1tb Crucial p1 ct1000p1ssd8

I use a Sony A7III and record 4k 30fps 60mbs files. But i have such slow playback in the edition , to the point i rader use the laptop with a i7 8750h then the desktop. I started using proxys files for the first time but for me thats not a solution and only slow down my edition , traying to attach heach proxy files

Any update or any thing im missing here?  or Davinci resolve solves the problem?

Thanks

I know it's a Studio driver ... ah, found it ... with Resolve, a couple heavy colorists say right now use nothing past 431.86.

Not normal at all for a 12 core and a 2070rtx

On the LGG forum, primarily colorists, there's a long thread about the current Nvidia drivers to use in Resolve  ... and the one that works is a couple versions "old".

just installed my old GTX780 and the problem persist and same playback lag, same render speed. So i think its not the GPU falt , but somthing to do with drivers of the motherboard...HELPPPPP

The choice of proxy preset for playback is crucial ... one of the small-frame-size Cineform presets that matches your aspect ratio would be the best for playback. Completely avoid any H.264 proxy preset ... that's long-GOP which is probably why you need to proxy your original media in the first place.

GMCE,

Use ProRes for your proxies and not H.264. Report back after trying this.

Thanks,
Kevin

I hear ya, GMCE! Who wants to make proxies if you have a pretty awesome system to begin with? Thing is, these Intel CPUs have an iGPU which provides Quick Sync decodes. This makes it a lot more viable for 4K Long GOP workflow. What GPU are you running? NVIDIA? That may explain things a little, if so.

Thanks,
Kevin

Hi,

I'm having a similar problem with 4k DJI drone and Sony FS7's footage. Does Premiere have a slowing problem when a large number of files are added to the project? I'm using a Late2015 imac with  AMD Radeon R9 M395X 4 GB. I'm connected to a NAS via an ATTO Thunderlink 10GB box. I'm getting close to  900MB/S. My current project has about 6000 clips in it and it's running very poorly. Sometimes takes up to 3 or 4 seconds for a frame to update and playback without rendering into 1080HD is impossible. Any thoughts?

Bryant,

Your 6th gen CPU is not meeting system requirements for 4K workflow. You need to transcode or create proxies for a smoother workflow. Otherwise, you need a new computer. You cannot swap out CPUs in a Mac, as you probably know.

Being connected to your media remotely is also probably not helping matters, it actually sounds like the heart of your performance issues.

You might conider moving these files to a high speed internal SSD for better performance for native and preview files, as a test. Then, report back. Your NAS might be causing issues and either needs tuning or is the wrong setup for your needs. However, save that issue until after you test the media locally of a Thunderbolt 2 or 3 connected SSD.

Kevin
