Hi !

I am looking into updating my computer (Mac) and I would like to make a good investment so that it would also allow me to edit smoothly. I thought you would be the right person to ask for advice, so I am wondering if you could help me understand wether I should choose to have better RAM or better GPU.

The question is what would you choose between this 2 setups:

OPTION A: iMac 21,5 inch - retina 4k

- 3,6‑GHz quad‑core Intel Core i7-processor van de 7e generatie, Turbo Boost tot 4,2 GHz

  • - 32 GB 2400‑MHz DDR4
    - SSD van 512 GB
    - Radeon Pro 560 met 4 GB videogeheugen

OPTION B: iMac 27 inch - retina 5k

  • - 4,2‑GHz quad‑core Intel Core i7-processor van de 7e generatie, Turbo Boost tot 4,5 GHz
    - 16 GB 2400‑MHz DDR
    - SSD van 512 GB
    - Radeon Pro 580 met 8 GB geheugen

Any advice would be lovely.

Thanks a lot in advanced!!

Merry christmas!!!

They’re both great machines for video editing.

Unless you’re really tight on desktop space, I’d go with the 27-inch iMac Retina 5k.  In addition to what Mo mentioned about processor speed and graphics performance, it’s also one of a short list of Apple computers that allow you to upgrade the RAM later.   Install memory in an iMac - Apple Support

    Hi Carolina

At this point in time the faster the processor and the more RAM the better.

Even though the 3.6Ghz has more RAM the 4.2 has a better GPU and a far superior GPU.

The 4.2Ghz machine is a better bet all round. Go for it you won't regret it
