Best Mac Desktop Computer

We have a late 2013 model of the MacPro with the following specs.

3.7 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon E5

12 GB 1866 MHz DDR3

This is our main computer for graphics and to edit videos.

We only use input and output 1080 and occasionally 4k for our drones that we use in video projects.

We rely heavily on after effects and premiere for video editing.

We also design magazines, newsletters and prints using photoshop, indesign and lightroom which currently houses over 150,00 photos.

Since several months ago, we've been piping through alot more intensive graphics and videos and the render times and saving have been sluggish.

We're looking in the market of no more then 5,500 for a new top of the line Mac computer.

What's avaialbe?

Recommendations please..

I hate to disappoint you, but the Mac that you're looking for either costs way above your $5,500 limit or doesn't provide sufficiently improved overall performance over your current configuration to justify its cost. In addition, the "traditional" Mac Pro has not been significantly updated since its introduction back in late 2013: Although the base CPU is now a six-core, it is still saddled with old technology (for example, the GPUs have not changed at all and it suffers from the continued use of DDR3 system RAM when almost every new system now uses DDR4 RAM). This leaves you with the choice between an iMac (which tops out at only four cores), which performs roughly the same as your current Mac, or the new iMac Pro, which gets way too expensive if you outfit it with the components that are necessary to comfortably handle 4k video editing. Neither the iMac nor the iMac Pro allows you to connect an external monitor as your primary monitor; you're pretty much stuck with the system's built-in screen (an external monitor can, however, be used to expand your desktop workspace)..

Good information! A few questions. With the IMac Pro, would I be able to connect external displays via thunder-bolt?

i've looked online and cant find where I can customize the iMac Pro, where would I be able to choose to max it out and see what we would be expecting to pay?

Other then Mac, what configuration types would I be looking into with a PC? Ive been on mac for about ten years, but have PC knowlage so the switch wouldn't be as bad.
