Best Mac Specs for Premier

I am very disappointed to tell you this, but you will need to go all the way up to the largest and most expensive MacBook Pro model, the 16-inch model, just to do video editing well. Right now, these are the only MacBooks to offer discrete GPUs at all. All of the smaller ones - the MacBook Air and the 13-inch MacBook Pro - only offer integrated Intel graphics at this time. And integrated graphics would always steal part of your system's RAM just to display video, and when forced to perform GPGPU processing, it would steal so much system RAM that it would leave you with an insufficient amount of system RAM remaining to run resource-heavy content creation programs properly. (I found this out after testing my on-reserve i7-7700 Windows 10 desktop with and without a discrete GPU, whereas all of the performance scores in video editing plummeted substantially with just the integrated graphics compared to what I could achieve with even a last-generation lower-midlevel discrete GPU.)

Don't go with any older ones at this point: All of the MacBooks manufactured between late 2015 and mid-2019 come with the very trouble-prone keyboard with "butterfly" mechanism switches. The late 2019 models began a return to the more tried-and-true "scissor" key mechanism.
