Hi,

I’m a newbie in photo and video editing but will be doing a lot of sports highlight videos  soon. I want to also develop a good sound design skill, too, and so good sound quality is a plus, but not really needed now but my budget is within the $800 rage. Which of this two laptops, a Dell and a Asus 15inch, would handle photoshop and premiere pro magnificently ?

Dell:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07793DRK9/ref=ask_ql_qh_dp_hza

Asus: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076H6X5SS/?coliid=IRV6LGBT8100O&colid=1EEFVDHVF3DSZ&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it&th=1

If you can find laptops that’s less then $800 and better then this, please let me know?

Thanks in advance!

Short answer:

Neither one, as is, will be a pleasant editing experience with Premiere Pro.

You will need much more RAM and more, fast hard drive(s).

Both laptops has 8gb of Ram but one Ram slot is open which can be upgraded. No problem to that.

I read on here  that the Samsung 960 Pro PCI SSD with 1TB is the best.

Here is is the link I read from: Please let me know if this laptop is overkill

In addition to needing more RAM, both of the systems in the links contain only an i5 CPU – far from ideal for video editing even though the i5-7300HQ in those laptops are quad-core without hyperthreading, and are thus limited to only four processing threads. You really need a CPU with eight or more processing threads in order to work effectively with any video content higher than 720p HD in Premiere Pro.
