Best Sound Card? Asio problems

I seem to have regular crahses and audio stutters when using an asio based sound card such as my Roland Duo EX or my internal Asus STX card, I then get an error in Audio hardware window 'XXXsoundcard not working'. My computer is very high spec, does Adobe have a problem handling professioal audio cards, asio cards?

Would I be better to stick to the regular windows/microsoft drivers and sound and can someone tell me where to find them as I can only see my asio cards showing in the Audio Hardware propeties?  thanks
