Hey guys, I am

getting a computer built for me and computer specs confuse me. I'll be editing mostly 4K projects, drone, Sony a7iii and GoPro footage in premiere pro and after effects. I will also he doing a lot in Lightroom and photoshop. These are the specs I got suggested for my budget. Is this ok?

    Two problems:

    • Since all GoPro footage uses some variant of H.264 AVC, be advised that Adobe does not currently support anything but Intel's QuickSync for hardware decoding. With high-end CPUs and AMD CPUs all decoding will be software only.
    • Premiere Pro, as a rule, does not perform well in OpenCL (the only GPGPU APU supported in AMD Radeon GPUs in Windows). That RX 5700 XT, despite costing around $400, performs only about equal to an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER that's priced at only $240, as far as Premiere Pro performance is concerned. Plus, there are serious export and playback quality issues with OpenCL 2.0 (as supported in all current Radeon GPUs).

So, if you're going to either transcode or export to a production format such as ProRes, then that Ryzen would be an excellent choice - but you should change the GPU to an equivalently-priced GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER for best performance. (Only Nvidia GPUs support CUDA at all; all non-Nvidia GPUs with GPGPU support only support OpenCL, with all of its performance and quality issues, in Windows.)

However, if you're going to work directly with GoPro footage, then you're better off with an Intel i7-10700K or an i9-10900K with a Z490 motherboard (and the GPU substitution that I mentioned in the previous paragraph).

    Hope this helps.

I moved your post over from the poorly named Community Help forum, which is for getting help using this forum system, to a better forum.

I hope this helps. Best of luck to you.
