Can I buy an eGPU to make my Mac compatible with Adobe softwares?

I'd like to know if I can use Premiere Pro and After Effects on my current laptop if I buy an external graphic card (as suggested by Apple in this article https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208544).

I own a MacBook Pro (mid 2014) 

2.2 GHz Intel Core i7

RAM 16 gb

Graphics Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB
