Question

can't get GPU hardware acceleration to work in premiere pro

I recently purchased a GPU and have not been able to get hardware acceleration to work in Premiere Pro -- I bought a Radeon RX 580 -- I should have plenty of VRAM so I'm not sure why I'm struggling

I found the following thread  FAQ: Why is my GPU not available for Mercury Play...  -- I have tried all the steps listed and also am working through all of the steps in the corresponding photoshop thread Troubleshoot Photoshop graphics processor (GPU) a...  and have tried nearly everything with the exception of flipping "high performance" on the switchable graphics mode which seems to be a feature gone in the latest AMD drivers (radeon software version 18.7.1)

Can anyone help me?

Thanks!

    Hi -

For people here to help you with your problem you'll have to give some information about your system:

    What operating system?

    Which CPU?

    Which Motherboard?

Are you using onboard graphics on the CPU?

    Which version of Premiere Pro?

How have you determined that you don't have gpu acceleration? Does Premiere indicate "software only", or are you just not seeing activity on the Radeon?

Are you using the latest drivers from AMD?

Hello Bill, here are my specs:

    Windows 10

    Intel Core i5-6600K @ 3.5gz

    ASRock Fatal1ty Z270 Gaming K6 Motherboard (ASRock > Fatal1ty Z270 Gaming K6 )

No to onboard Graphics -- using aforementioned Radeon RX 580

Premiere Pro version 12.1.2 (Build 69)

    Premiere indicates "software only"

Yes I am using the latest
