Computer Specs Advice

Hello there, I am a freelance graphic designer that is in look for a new laptop. First thing worth mentioning is that I am backpacker that moves around a lot with just the bare minimal needed to live. I currently own a Windows laptop that has served me well for my first 3 years of taking freelancing as serious career. My current Specs are as follows:

HP ENVY:

     -Intel Core i7-6500 CPU @2.50GHz-2.59GHz

     -8 GB RAM

     -64-bit operating system

     -Nvidia Geforce 930m graphics card

     -1 TB HDD

Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, and Lightroom all work well but when I start venturing into Premiere Pro it starts lagging. I knew this from the begging (that I would see the flaws when I started venturing into video editing). Needless to say the time has come for an upgrade. I'm looking at both options for another Windows laptop or switching to a MacBook Pro. It is as commonly known fact that you can get more power on windows for a lot less money. I know almost nothing about MAC so some help on that would be great.

What would be my benefit of having a MAC over another OS? Note that what I'm looking for is a light laptop, a screen size that is reasonable, and something can run my software on the go. Anything helps thank you if have taken the time to respond/read this.
