You might want to go with a 27-inch iMac with at least 16GB of DDR4 RAM, a quad-core Kaby Lake Intel i7 CPU and an AMD Radeon GPU (which will cost you at least $2.5k after the CPU and memory upgrades) at this point. This is because the currently-available "regular" Mac Pro is now at the end of its production life, being based on an outdated Ivy Bridge-E CPU (which dates all the way back to late 2012) and only DDR3 system RAM. Its replacement (not yet officially introduced) is expected to arrive shortly.

Thank you for the reply.  Can all of these items be ordered at the “Mac” store?  Can I go to the Mac store and order what you describe?

Yes, you can order what I describe from the Apple store. Pick a $1999 configuration, but customize that (the base CPU is only an i5 with only 8GB of DDR4 RAM and a lousy hybrid drive for internal storage). With the i7, 16GB of RAM and a 250GB SSD, it will cost you about $2.6K plus tax.

And that configuration comes with a Radeon Pro 575 GPU. You have to make that decision when you order since the GPU is not user-upgradable. (There is a cheaper 27-inch configuration with the Radeon Pro 570, but it is offered only with the i5 CPU.)
