Cost effective RAID or local storage?
I've added a BMPCC4K to my shop, as the main rig. Often in b-raw, and it runs about 610 Mb/s in that mode. Some ProRes 422 and LT of course. So the amount of media has jumped dramatically from the 150 Mb/s my older camera runs.
I've been running six internal drives, mostly SSDs, but ... that was for running with the 150 Mb/s workflow. I've got a couple projects now that are over 300 GB of media coming in. And more on the way.
I need a much larger local storage setup. It would need to be attached directly to my computer. I know a lot of colorists that are using Qnap and other RAID rigs to get both size of space and speed of read/write, and am curious what the folks here would recommend? I can either run USB3.1 or put another card in the computer, I've space for a couple more cards.
And I'm expecting that I will need to quickly archive projects even with a larger storage availability.
