Extreme PC specs For Premiere

Hi forum. ( this title should be posted in hardware forum)

It'll be time soon to upgrade my PC, and make the most of the budget I can afford. I stumbled on this video on YouTube, which the specs

seem extremely capable of enduring any task of Premiere and After effects, but the budget is around $8000 Australian Dollars. My question is, is this PC build overkill?

for example, with all those high end specs, how long would it take to export a project from Premiere? In my previous post on the forum, I tried to export my H.264 video and I had to wait 12 Hours... Due to my PC having specs almost a decade ago which it was built. So just average taking a mere guess, how long would this BEAST which this guy claims take to export an hourly video?

Thank you.

Hello Trevor.

I do follow Linus. and have seen his PC builds and hardware comparison, great information he sheds. I see PC technicians building extreme machines for a costly amount, but I'm always sceptic about the performance it delivers when it comes to seeing results. That's is why I'd like to know on what average do these machines which cost $6-8k export a video.

If I may ask, with your current system how long does it take to export a video which is around 1 hour in length, if you do such lengthy projects?

By way of comparison, the server workstation that Linus Media built for multiple 8K editing stations took it up a level or two, and would cost serious dollars.  The build was also problematic, and not a project you'd want to undertake without the sort of resources that Linus has available, and that includes his expertise.

It's a while since I watched the videos (there are several that deal with the build and problem solving at various stages) but I remember one large issue was getting the uber expensive RED GPUs to work properly.  They initially 'slowed' performance IIRC.   Linus has connections with the big manufacturers, and gets a lot of sponsoring from them, but the total cost was still significant.   I am struggling to use a laptop with a flaky mouse and reflections on the screen, or I'd hunt down the relevant links.

Hi, Peru bob.

yes, I understand what you're saying, but on average I'm asking. Lets keep things more simple. There are no video effects

or colour corrections etc etc.

That's kind of like asking, "How long is a piece of string?"

It depends not only on the media and export settings, but its length and the effects applied.
