GTX 2060 Super VS RX 5700 XT

Hello Adobe People! I'm building my pc atm and stuck between GTX 2060 and RX 5700 XT.

Which should I get? I'm also considering low power consumption. This build will be mainly for work.

It depends on the Creative Cloud app that you'll be working with. Premiere Pro currently has ongoing issues with Windows' OpenCL support that causes severe artifacts in exported video (and unfortunately, that issue can only be circumvented by completely disabling GPU acceleration support and rendering in software-only mode). And the available drivers for current Navi lineup of Radeon GPUs are still not mature enough for use in Premiere Pro. So, if you're going to use Premiere Pro frequently, then the RTX 2060 SUPER is by far the better choice.

 

And this situation may not improve in the foreseeable future: Everybody is now depreciating OpenCL support, and that OpenCL itself has not been significantly updated in years. So unless AMD decides to go with a proprietary Windows-compatible API that's comparable to Nvidia's CUDA that will completely replace OpenCL, the GPU acceleration in AMD for Premiere Pro will remain broken for many years to come.

I normally use Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and XD. I don't do 3D Rendering and Video Edits.

I cannot find any definitive results with the RX 5700 XT in Photoshop (no results at all for Windows with that GPU in that program, and the only results that I have seen so far with an RX 5000 series GPU were from OSX Macs). The RTX 2060 SUPER's performance also varies by CPU.

 

For Illustrator, it doesn't matter much about the GPU; that means even a decent low-end GPU these days is miles better than an old and obsolete GPU for that app.

 

xD doesn't use the GPU for much, if anything.

 

It also helps us if you tell us which CPU, how much RAM and which disks and how many are going to be in the new build. After all, a well-performing GPU cannot make up for a weakling CPU. It would be somewhat of a waste of money to buy either of those GPUs for merely a 6-core, 6-thread CPU such as an Intel i5.
