Hardware for Adobe

Hello, I have a PC with W10 Pro and Intel i7 6th generation. I saw on the Adobe site that the latest supported processor is the 6th generation. Will the planned updates of Premiere, After Effects, and the Adobe suite in general in 2022 no longer be compatible with the processor? If anyone has any info on what Adobe has planned on the compatible hardware side? Thank you and happy new year!!

The 6th-Gen CPUs should remain supported for the foreseeable future as its architecture is essentially reused over and over again up to and including the 10th-Gen CPUs. Plus, it continues to be supported via graphics updates. Thus, it might not go EOSL until the 10th-Gen CPUs also go EOSL.

 

Performance is a different story, however: The mainstream 6th-Gen CPUs have at most only 4 cores and 8 threads. Do not confuse these 6th-Gen CPUs with the "6th-Gen" HEDT (X-series) CPUs, which are actually based on an older architecture than the 6th-Gen mainstream and mobile CPUs. In the meantime, core counts since then have ballooned to as many as 10 cores and 20 threads using the same 6th-Gen-based rehash, and the old quad-core CPUs can no longer keep up with the increasing video demands.

    Adobe generally does not announce future plans, and any Beta testers have signed an NDA so they can't comment
