Hardware - Upgrade or Keep?

Hello,

I am wondering if I should upgrade my entire current system or just parts. I've used this in the past to edit 1080p with some rendering and ecoding. Not bad, but not great. I recently got a DJI Mavic Pro 2 and 4k camera and am looking to export 4k with color grade, etc. Most will be for family/kid vids, under 10 mins. YouTube and Facebook stuff for family and friends. My workflow is to proxy down to 720p, but im looking for faster render and encode times, especailly when using motion graphics. Ideas?

Windows 10 Pro

i7-4790K @ 4GHz

16GB RAM

2 x Nvida GTX 760 4GB GDDR5

C:\ APPS and OS - Samsung 840 SSD 128GB

E:\ VIDEO - 500GB SATA 7200

G:\ SCRATCH - 1.5TB SATA 7200

750w Power Supply

ATX Case with 8 drive bays

Spare Parts:

2 x Samsung 840 SSD 128 GB

Originally I was thinking of upgrading:

New MOBO

i9-9900k

32 GB RAM

A couple Samsung 860 SSDs

RAID setup

    You will probably want 64 GB RAM with the i9-9900k.

    You might want to try upgrading the current RAM to 32 GB first and use proxies.  That might work for you.

      I just bought a surface pro 6 i5 128gb and edited a short clip with minimal motion graphics using a proxy and it went fairly well. I havevnt used proxies before on my desktop (last video I made was 2012) so maybe I should take a look at that before upgrading. I'm used to render and encode time lol.

      I don't want to edit natively in 4K, especially since I will be using HVEC with the mavic pro 2, so no matter what I will be using a proxy. Was curious if it's worth to upgrade to a new i9 with my current graphics card, add some RAM etc to help with encode and render time. Upgrading would cost around $1200. I don't know bottlenecks I currently have or would have if upgrading and using the older GTX 760 cards.

      Any other ideas or thoughts that stick out?

      I have 2 EVGA GeForce GTX760 FTW with ACX Cooler 4GB GDDR5 256Bit Dual-Link DVI-I DVI-D HDMI DP SLI Ready 04G-P4-3768-KR. I debating whether to #1) just upgrade my RAM to 32GB and using proxies or #2) upgrade MOBO, RAM, Processor, drives.

      Would having both cards for #1 or #2 help, or just keep one card installed?

      If I upgrade to 32GB ram and keep those cards, using proxies should be fine?

      Would I be able to keep my current graphics cards with #2 or would I upgrade those as well?

      What other benefits would I get from upgrading to #2 instead of #1 (render times much faster?, 4k native edits?)
