Question

Hardware upgrade worse performance

I was hoping someone might be able to help. I've just upgraded the GPU in my media PC from an RTX 2060 to a 4080 Super. I now seem to be getting worse performance in Premiere Pro during editing playback, especially during any transition effects. Machine specs:

MB/GPU z790 Aourus Elite - i9-14900K

RAM 64GB

GPU RTX 4080 Super

Windows 11 Pro

Thanks in advance.

Hello @defaultcxiv0fbo7uei,

According to engineering, you might try a clean installation of the studio driver. That can sometimes make things work again. Please also check your GPU settings on the computer. I hope the advice helps. Let us know, please. Sorry for the trouble.

Thanks,
Kevin

Morning,

Thanks for getting back to me sorry for the delayed response. I'll give the clean install a go. When you say check the GPU settings on the PC, is there anything specific you'd reccomend checking?

Cheers,

Jamie

Studio or Gaming driver?

nVidia Driver Downloads https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
-for all Adobe programs use the STUDIO driver, not the GAMING driver
-To achieve the highest level of reliability, Studio Drivers undergo extensive
-testing against multi-app creator workflows and multiple revisions of the top
-creative applications from Adobe to Autodesk and beyond

Morning, sotty for the delayed reply and thanks for getting back to me. I'm running the studio driver as it's a dedicated media rig, don't use it for anything else.
