Help with purchasing new Mac setup

Hi everyone. I need to purchase a new setup for editing on the go/in the field. I'd like to keep everything Mac as that's what I'm most familiar with. Is there a configuration on a MacBook Pro that anyone thinks is best? In addition, I'd like to get an additional monitor and since a desktop isn't practical for my needs was thinking of an iPad. Could someone offer any advice as to what would be best for running premier and being able to edit in the field. I just want to make sure I'm making the right purchase and figured you guys would know best. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Right now Apple is transitioning its entire Mac line from Intel CPUs to Apple's own ARM-based M# series silicon. As such, the currently available models have a mix of both types of CPUs, depending on the exact model that you choose.

As a result, the only specific Mac laptop models that you should be looking at are the MacBook Air (with the M1 chip), the 13-inch MacBook Pro with two Thunderbolt/USB4 ports (not the model with four Thunderbolt ports as that model still uses Intel CPUs with no discrete GPU whatsoever) and the 16-inch MacBook Pro (which still uses multicore Intel CPUs, but also include discrete AMD Radeon GPUs). If you choose one of the models with the M1 chip, order it with 16 GB of RAM instead of the base 8 GB (since the M1-powered Macs are currently not offered at all with more than 16 GB of RAM).
