Well here is a $454 candidate that is not ideal by any means but might be a good entry point

Specifications:

  • Operating System: Windows 10 Pro x64
  • CPU: Intel Core i7 4800MQ 2.7Ghz Quad Core Hypertheaded
  • CPU Specs: 6MB L3 Cache, 8 Threads.
  • Memory: 16GB DDR3
  • Hard Drive: 500GB HDD
  • Optical: DVDRW
  • Screen: 15.6" FHD LCD
  • Resolution: 1920x1080
  • Video Card: AMD Radeon HD 8790M - 2 GB GDDR5
  • USB 3.0 Ports: 4
  • Ethernet: 10/100/1000 Mbps, Gigabit
  • Wireless: 802.11n or better
  • HDMI Port: 1
  • VGA Port: 1
  • SD_Card Reader: Yes
  • Webcam: Yes
  1. To use this effectively put on your wish list one Samsung T5 250 USB 3.1 portable SSD so you have a second storage device which is highly recommended by forum users
  2. in the long term you should consider replacing the 500 GB hard disk drive with an internal SSD.
  3. That CPU is better than my i7-4700HQ which is work great for me
  4. The GPU is not CUDA but better than nothing
  5. I believe that that 500 GB drive is 7200 rpm and not a lousy 5400 rpm drive but have not 100% verified it.

I cannot recommend anything in this price range due to the universally weak (only dual-core and/or very-low-clocked) CPU that's included in these laptops. What's more, these cheapies rely entirely on integrated graphics (IGP) and have no discrete GPU at all whatsoever. And finally, most of these cheapies still have only a 1366x768 display instead of a 1920x1080 display. Plus, these cheapies have only 4 to 8 GB of RAM installed, which is not enough to run Premiere Pro at all because all integrated graphics steal a portion of the installed system RAM for themselves, making that portion of the RAM completely unavailable for programs to use.

Unfortunately, not if you are using Premiere Pro or After Effects.

If you are using Photoshop and Lightroom, maybe.
