If we rank performance as poor, good, and excellent in the context of price, then new model laptops less than $1,000 offer poor performance, laptops in the $1,000 to $2,500 range offer good performace, and laptops in the $2,500 to $5,000 range offer excellent performance.

That said, if your planned laptop had both an integrated graphics processor on the CPU and a discrete GPU both enabled and active, then you may run into problems because most such laptops automatically switch between the two with the same main display - and that's because most such laptops are not content creation app aware (these laptops are typically for gaming only).
