Mackie 1604vlz4 says not working in premiere pro mac os

Hi, I'm trying to edit videos using a Mac Pro (Late 2013) running macOS 12.5.1. When I go to use Premiere Pro 2023 (v23.1), My Audio input says "System Default - 16A (Not Working)" and Audio Output says "16A". 

So far as I know, the issue only exists in premiere pro, and no other software applications have had any issues using the mixer as an input or output device, so, why is it having issues specifically in Premiere?
