Quite simply I'm a student with a limited budget looking for a computer that I can use to run the Adobe Suite with a focus on Premiere Pro. The school has a lot of Mac integration so I'd like to stay on that operating system. Would something like this be able to work?

SPECS:

  • Apple A Grade iMac (2019)
  • 3.6GHZ Quad Core i3
  • 16 GB RAM 1 TB HDD & 128 GB Flash HD
  • Mac OS
  • 21.5" Retina 4K 4096 x 2304 Display
  • Radeon Pro 555X graphics processor with 2 GB of dedicated GDDR5 video memory

    Thanks in advance!

If about $800 is your price point, get a 8GB/256GB M1 MacBook Air that is currently on sale for about $799.  You'll want to add a USB-C Flash drive or Thunderbolt Flash drive at some point for your source footage.

Ideally, you'd go with 16GB/512GB as a starting point, but that of course brings the price up.

The processor is weak for Premiere Pro.

You want a fast, large SSD, not an HDD, or editing in Premiere Pro may not be a pleasant experience, depending upon the media used on the timeline.

The operating system SSD is also probably too small.

At least 4 GB of dedicated video memory would be recommended.
