New PC build for video and photo editing
After 10 years I'm upgrading my PC - this will be my first self-built PC. In the past I've replaced hard drives, graphics cards, memory, OS and drivers on occasion, so I think I can handle the build. To plan this build, I used the following webpages and others:
https://community.adobe.com/
https://www.logicalincrements.com/articles/videoediting
https://turbofuture.com/computers/Build-Photo-Editing-PC
Before ordering hardware and getting started, I'd like the community's input if anything obvious is missing, poorly matched, overkill, or incompatible to start with, with a willingness to upgrade in the future. Details below:
Goals and Use:
- Budget: Around $1000 or less
- Needs: Very upgradable to last several years, support for three monitors (none 4K at this point), 10bit monitor support would be nice but not a deal breaker.
- Use: small home based internet business
- Apps: Premiere Pro, Photoshop and LightRoom and Dreamweaver mostly, but also InDesign, Acrobat and other CC apps. Also use Google Earth a fair amount and multiple browser open at once.
- Type of work: 1080p video for foreseeable future, but may do 4K in the future. Large still RAW files and photo merging in Ps and/or Lr. Plan to do more time lapse work in the future.
Proposed New Hardware:
- CPU: AMD RYZEN 7 2700X (with included cooler) (8-Core 4.1 GHz max, Socket AM4) ($150)
- GPU: GTX 1660 OC 6G (6GB GDDR5) ($230)
- Motherboard: Asus Prime X570-P AM4 (USB 3.1, ATX Form Factor) ($150)
- RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 32GB (4x8GB) DDR4 3000MHz ($175)
- Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA 650 G+ ($90)
- CPU Cooler: included with CPU
- Case: Fractal Design Define R5 Black Silent ATX Midtower ($130)
Total = $925
