no output channel

Question

After awakening from Sleep on a new computer, CA gets 4 error messages that say "The device has changed and no output channels are present. Do you want to open the Audio Hardware preferences?" There has been nothing wrong with CA connecting to the speakers. Three of the four error messages are in windows behind every other open window- ugh!

In the same set of circumstances, AE no longer produces sound on the speakers until I go in and click some buttons (without changing anything) in the Audio preferences and sound comes back.

Sound is going through my NVIDIA card. Suggestions?

AE is now producing the 4 error messages as I've not been using CA for a few days. Ergo it is a CC system error message? Everything else I use is working fine with the speakers and mic, including Zoom.
