No Playback/Crashes - New User, Windows 7

I decided to download a trial version of Adobe Premiere because I just switched from Mac to a custom-built Windows. Unfortunately, I have not been able to have the program work for me at all. It opens up fine, but when I import media all I get is a gray or white screen when I try to preview it. There's no audio when I scrub music files, and no video when I scrub on the preview/timeline. I've tried different file types (.mp4 and .wmv for example) but no luck.

In addition to that, it crashes every time I try to quit out of it without fail. At this point, I'm wondering if it's something to do with my system requirements, and if so, if there's any suggestions on what I should try to change. Any help would be appreciated! My specs are below:
