Premiere Pro 2020 lagging

I'm currentl using MSI GL65 Leopard 10SCXR 15.6" 120Hz Gaming Laptop i& 16GB 512GB GTX1650 W10H. I only bought this on the 31/07/2020 however I'm experiencing issues with playback in Premiere pro. I've setup proxies and made quality to the lowest I could (1/8) and toggled proxies. It will play about half videos and then freeze on playback mid video. I'm not too sure why this is happening... If I could get some advice this would be greatly appreciated!

You didn't mention your media drive. A 2nd SSD connected via USB 3 or Thunderbolt is a necessity in any properly setup NLE. Please return with questions after placing your media on this secondary drive and reconnecting media. If you cannot afford a second drive, see my next comment:

Your performance issue may be due to the proxy format, choose QuickTime ProRes > Hi/Med/Low as your proxy format. Do not choose H.264 as your proxy format. Choose "Low" if you cannot afford a 2nd SSD right now and must store your video files on the boot drive. That should work.

You can also transcode these files directly to ProRes LT as these are performant enough in most cases, as long as the files reside on a separate SSD.

I hope this info is helpful. Please return with questions.

    Thank You,

    Kevin
