Hi folks!

Im building workstation for my company (videoediting, graphics, a little bit of 3D effects, and possibly game-dev soon).

Right now I thought abouught:

  • i7-8700
  • 32-64 GB ram DDR4
  • (no idea for motherboard)
  • ssd's for system and Adobe Apps
  • hdd for data
  • and GPU...

SO... We want to use 10bit display.

But... Hi end Quadro are extremly expensive...

And I wonder. Is it possible to: use GTX1070 for rendering, and P1000 for display?

We're going to buy Eizo CG2730 or BenQ SW320. Did Eizo 8+2 bit system would bypass Adobe/GTX limitation?

Or.. should I bought 2 display per workstation (one for colorgrading, and one for "rest")?

If both GPUs use the same GPGPU technology (CUDA or OpenCL), you will not be able to choose the GPU to be used for GPU-accelerated rendering in the latest versions of Premiere Pro CC. The GPU used for rendering will always default to whichever GPU that's designated as "primary" in the BIOS/EFI installed in the primary PCIe x16 slot (unless the integrated Intel UHD Graphics is enabled either by monitor connection or BIOS/EFI setting, in which case the Intel graphics will prevent the use of discrete GPUs for GPU acceleration in Adobe). So, if you're using the Quadro P1000 as "primary" and the GeForce GTX 1070 as "secondary", Premiere will use only the Quadro P1000. Which, by the way, is the same GPU as the GeForce GTX 1050 except for its lower memory throughput (80 GB/second for the P1000 versus 112 GB/second for the GTX 1050).

So... if i set GTX as primary and Quadro as secondary I wil have: Default GTX power dor endering etc... and 10-bit display suport for monitor connected to P1000?

Did you ever attempt this setup?  It's identical to what I was planning on trying and I'd like to know if you had any success with it.

Thank you!
