Hi,

my daughter will be using premier pro for her college course and is getting a Macbook Pro.  Can anyone PLEASE confirm if this one is ok... MacBook Pro - Technical Specifications - Apple (UK)

Macbook 15" with 16gb memory, 256gb SSD,

2.2GHz

2.2GHz 6-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 4.1GHz, with 9MB shared L3 cache

Configurable to 2.9GHz 6-core Intel Core i9, Turbo Boost up to 4.8GHz, with 12MB shared L3 cache   (I believe this is 8th gen)

Radeon Pro 555X with 4GB of GDDR5 memory and automatic graphics switch

is it  suitable or not?  I am not an Apple person and really have no idea and if we are going to drop just over £2k on this, I need to be sure it is capable of running Premier Pro.

Thanks!!!!!

    BUMP

If anyone can help I would really appreciate it as I'm running out of time.  I just need to confirm that the machine detailed above is capable of running Premier Pro at a decent pace.

    Thanks

It may work, depending upon the type of media to be edited.  You will likely have to edit with the laptop's power supply connected or it will throttle back to 2.2 GHz which would be too slow for editing.

    Hi Bob,

thanks for answering. So do you think it will be problematical then?  Don't people use Macbook Pros with this software at all?  It is a pretty good spec.

    Cheers

What type of external drive will be used for media storage?

256 GB SSD is a bit small.

    Hi Bob,

She will be using a one terabyte (minimum) external - I have no idea on make/model.

    Thanks
