As far as Premiere Pro is concerned, your laptop does not meet the minimum hardware requirements to run that program smoothly. You see, your laptop's i5 may be a low-power CPU that has very low sustainable clock speeds and only 2 physical CPU cores. You need not only high sustained clock speeds, but also (relatively speaking) lots of CPU cores and threads.

And your laptop may only be upgradable to 12 GB maximum because it has 4 GB of RAM that's permanently soldered onto its motherboard. And nobody ever made unbuffered non-ECC DDR3 RAM larger than 8 GB per stick.

Put them both together, and I would recommend saving that laptop for something else that's far less CPU-intensive, such as simple media playback. You definitely need a newer, more powerful (and often more expensive) laptop or desktop in order to properly run any video editing software such as Premiere Pro.

And don't bother to even run After Effects at all on that laptop: It will not even start. After Effects requires a minimum of 16 GB of RAM just to even run at all.

I'm moving this to the Video Hardware forum.

Yeah, that's a real problem.  You would need to upgrade the RAM to at least 8 and preferably 16 -32 GB of RAM.

Please see the minimum system requirements to run Creative Cloud + all other apps you intend to use.  Requirements vary by product so check each one carefully.

I would recommend no less that 16GB RAM for either Premiere Pro or After Effects.  If you want to mutitask, then 32 GB RAM would be better.  After Effects alone could use 32 GB RAM if it is available.

I've moved this from the poorly named Community Help forum (which is the forum for issues using the forums) to the CC forum so that proper help can be offered.
