Storage speed vs Graphics card? Where to spend the money?

Hi - I'm choosing between 2 laptops for editing in Premiere Pro CC and would love some advice as to which way to go:

1. ASUS ROG Strix Scar Edition Gaming Laptop, 17.3” 144Hz 3ms Full HD, I

Intel Core i7-8750H,

GeForce GTX 1070 8GB,

16GB DDR4,

256GB PCIe SSD

+ 1TB FireCuda,

2. ASUS TUF Gaming Flagship FX705GM 17.3" FHD IPS Display Laptop,

Intel i7-8750H,

16GB RAM,

512GB PCI-e SSD,

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3 gb

So the big diff is that #1 has the 1070 and #2 has the 1060 with 3gb (and #1 is an additional 375$). If I choose #2 I can add a second SSD hard drive for about 100 dollars and have better storage speed for my footage (over the FireCuda) but the graphics card is less powerful with the 1060 3gb.

Any thoughts? Is the 1060 good enough? Is the faster storage worth the trade (not to mention saving 300 dollars)?

Or any other suggestions - thanks MUCH appreciated!

Since you're going with a 17-inch laptop, I'd go for 17-inch, I'd opt for a 2560 x 1600 pixel display or 4k display and avoid 1920x1080.

I would go for the #1 choice.. and try to restrict my source material to 1080p or else use proxies for 4k. If you can get 32 gig ram instead of 16 that would help.

Davinci Resolve 15 suggests a MINIMUM of 32 gig... so that might give you some hint.

Good luck
