Question

Suitable graphics card

Hello,

I'm trying to buy a new laptop to run Premiere Pro on.

One that I'm looking at is the NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3050 Ti, 4 GB GDDR6, 40 W

I read that there are some cards that do not natively encode H264 videos. That's all I produce. Does anyone know whether this card will natively encode them or whether I'll have to rely on the CPU alone (which is what my current, slow, laptop does)?
I can't find this information on the NVIDIA website.
Thanks, friends.
Johnny

Use this driver:

NVIDIA Studio Driver - WHQL

Driver Version: 526.98 - Release Date: Wed Nov 16, 2022

Choose Custom when installing and choose Clean installation.

I think that card should be OK if you use the Studio Driver, not the Game Driver.

@RjL190365  can you confirm?

Hi @Peru Bob Peru Bob,

That was very reassuring so I have now bought the machine (I'm writing this on it) but I can't find out how to select or install the driver to use.

Any help, please?

Thank you
