Is there a list somewhere that contains compatible third-party hardware that i can use with Premiere Pro. I am trying to find a suitable video capture card that i can use with premiere. I have tried to call support but those guys are useless and don't know what i'm talking about. Any help with this would be awesome.

This is where a value added reseller (VAR) comes in.  If you happen to be in Los Angeles, try Melrose Mac.  Online, B&H Photo Video is a great choice.  Their sales support should be able to guide you to a good product for your needs.

That said, I’ve always used Blackmagic capture and playback products (two decades plus).  There’s also AHA Video and Matrox.  Maybe some others will chime in with what they’ve liked/not liked.

The answer to Ann Bens’ question is key.

Answering that question really depends on what type of tape based video you’re talking about.  Is it VHS, Regular 8, Hi8, Digital 8, DV, MicroMV, HDV, 3/4”, DVCPro, DVCAM, Betacam, 1”, Betamax, DigiBeta, D1, D2, D4 (or whatever formats that I’m leaving out)?

What kind of video do you want to capture, as there are different type of cards.
