Upgrade Macbook?

I have an early 2015 MacBook pro. 2.7Gzhz dual core i5. 16gb RAM. Premiere 2020  freezes or crashes repeatedly, even after deleting media caches. Is upgrading to a 2018 quad core with the same amount of RAM for $1500 worth it? (I'm unemployed so budget is important).

Thanks but I've been on Macs since 1977, not switching now!

I've moved this from the poorly named Community Help forum (which is the forum for issues using the forums) to the Video Harsdware forum so that proper help can be offered.

It depends if you will be editing and exporting 4K you will need 32 GB of RAM

to run smoothly. The graphic card specs are really important if you will be using

plugins and GPU accelerated effects. Drives are also very important, so if you

could please share all the specs before buying that would be better...

Thanks Carlos. I only edit 1080 but use mogarts and plugins frequently. All footage is on external thunderbolt G-Drives.
