Hey gurus,

my system from 2015 is:

* Win10 64Bit

* Intel i7 6700K (8 core, 4 Ghz) - 6. Generation

* NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB

* 32 GB RAM

* ASUS MB Z170-A Chipset

* Samsung SSD 850 Pro 1 TB (used as C:, scratch and working files - hard discs just for offline storage.

I am working with 4K material and use loads of effects, plugins (denoiser) etc. .

Would I see a big difference adding a second GPU, more fast SSDs and maybe more RAM? Or should I re-start from scratch?

Thanks for your time!

J

    For 4k I would strongly recommend restarting from scratch:

    The CPU platform definitely limits your overall video editing experience, in this case. You see, the first revision of LGA 1151 is permanently limited to 4 cores and 8 threads, which meant that only 6th- and 7th-Gen Intel CPUs will work. The 8th- and 9th-Gen Intel CPUs, which introduced 6- and 8-core CPUs to the mainstream Intel desktop platform, use a socket that's physically identical but electrically incompatible, requiring the purchase of a completely new motherboard.

    As far as I know, PPro does not use 2 GPU to speed supported rendering

    Definately more than one drive for editing... I use 4 SSD
