Hi,

I want to buy new computer, I think to buy one of best Imac right now (27", i9 3.6ghz, GPU 16gb, 64 Ram)

But I read here users that bought this computer and not happy with his performance in After Effects / C4D.

Also they told, that cheap Imac will do the same performance in AE.

Which Imac is the best for animation and 3D animation (AE/C4D)?

I want to watch the simulation in AE and export fast.

Also, maybe windows better for AE/C4D in this budget?

Please help, Thanks!

    @Andy 1968 @RjL190365 Thanks for your comments!

    But I didn't get answer about my question, Windows or Imac which better for AE/C4D?

    A lot of users are complaining about the best Imac (27", i9 3.6ghz, GPU 16gb, 64 Ram), that it's not a fast computer for AE...

    I did answer your question to the best of my ability because things can change. Not many people have mutliple iMacs to run benchmarks and even if they did the benchmarks could change depending on how fast Adobe can write code for the M1 CPU. Intel's Alder Lake will be out soon as will Apple's M1X chip. I imagine Alder Lake will be the last Intel chip for the Apple iMacs. Your best bet is to wait until December if you can.

    Alder Lake will not be included at all in any future Mac. The development of all Intel-powered iMacs has been discontinued with the current 27" line, and the last Intel iMacs will remain on Comet Lake until they become themselves discontinued.

    Here's the problem:

    After effects relies on high IPC and high single-core performance. It does not take much if any advantage of higher core counts.

    That said, you should avoid the very cheapest iMac, the 21.5" non-Retina model, as it has not been updated at all since 2017 and it still uses a low-power U-series dual-core mobile (not even desktop) 7th-Gen Intel Core CPU. as that CPU has much poorer per-core performance than those CPUs in any of the other Macs (desktop or laptop) that are currently available.

    I don't doubt the Adobbe Products work better with an Intel chip in 2021 but in 2022 they might work better with an M1X Chip.
