In January I bought a 4Gig Asus Gtx 1050Ti when I built my wife's computer... and paid $173

Just checking, the price at Newegg today is $369... more than twice as much

It's not just computer parts.

I own a retail hardware store (nails and hammers, not hard drives and cpus) and sell major appliances and plumbing and electrical supplies as well.  We have experienced wholesale price increases of up to 400%.  That is, of course, when things are available.

Same with almost all other decent newer GPUs. Some of the GTX 16 series GPUs are now priced at well over $600!

At Micro Center, inventory has gotten so bad that they had to bring back a 4 GB Fermi-based GeForce GT 730 with only 96 CUDA cores even though all driver support for Fermi had already completely ended three years ago!
