Question

Will this laptop (HP ZBook Studio G7) work well for Premiere Pro?

Hello,

I'm new to Premiere Pro and am editing zoom event videos that are as long as 8 hours. You're wondering who does 8-HOUR-LONG ZOOMS? - university conferences! I am getting a new laptop from work and want to know if this is a good choice for this purpose.

I actually spend the majority of my work time in Photoshop, but I assume that a laptop that's good enough for Premiere Pro will be good enough for Photoshop - is that right? Here are the specs:

HP ZBook Studio G7 Mobile Workstation
Core i9 10885H / 2.4 GHz
32 GB RAM
Quadro T2000 / UHD Graphics (I do not see this GPU on Adobe's recommanded list)

Thank you for your help! 🙂

Looks good, except that the Quadro T2000 is a bit underspecced for a laptop of that price. It is essentially a GeForce GTX 1650 (non-Super) with all 1024 CUDA cores enabled (unlike the desktop GTX 1650, which has only 896 CUDA cores) but constrained to the much lower throughput of older-tech GDDR5 VRAM (whereas some versions of the desktop GTX 1650 use newer GDDR6 VRAM).

Thanks so much for the info @RjL190365 and @Peru Bob. It's a little bit beyond my knowledge level.

Because my work is paying for this laptop, I'm constrained to selecting an HP from this company https://www.cdwg.com. Would you be willing to look if there is a better option on their site for a comparable price? I originally wanted an ASUS ProArt, but they told me that I have to select an HP.

Also, is this monitor ok as a second screen? I would use it for running zoom events and multi-tasking with Adobe programs. The small size is due to my tiny home office space. https://www.cdwg.com/product/HP-EliteDisplay-E243i-LED-monitor-24in-Smart-Buy/4753234?

I really appreciate your input!

@RjL190365 Is this a much safer option for editing those multi hour videos?

Would this one be a better option:

HP ZBook Create G7
Core i9 10885H / 2.4 GHz
32 GB RAM
1 TB SSD NVMe
GF RTX 2080 SUPER / UHD Graphics

It seems OK to me, but let's ask @RjL190365

who is a hardware expert before you pull the trigger.

What are the hard drives (how many, what kind, what size)?

For some reason when I try to post my reply here with the hard drive specs my post gets automatically flaged and doesn't post. 😞
