Question

Xeon W or I9? Fastest CPU available for AE and Premier in 2018?

I have to recommend specs for a video editing machine to my office. Mainly Premier and After Effects to produce AJ+ style videos. Time is of absolute essence for a media company.

I know thus far (through this forum) that these programs can't utilize multi CPU setups, and too many cores are overkill too. So for similar clock speed and core counts (8 core, 4.5Ghz Turbo) will I be better off with W series Xeons or I9s?

Price is no consideration, and 32 GB of RAM will probably be enough. Machine needs to be future proof. Thanks in advance

Those two statements are conflicting.

Get at least 64 GB RAM for an 8 core.

Machine needs to be future proof.

There is no such thing.

of course. Thanks for the response. Future proofing is too naive a term, but I hope you get the idea. Machine needs to be good for 5 years.

And what do you say about the main question? What are the best possible specs available today for AE and PPr?

I echo Peru Bob here:

There really is no such thing as even a 3-year PC, let alone a 5-year one. This is because software writers and publishers do not like to support anything (hardware-wise) that's even 3 years old, let alone 5 years old. In fact, there are a few programs that absolutely REQUIRE that your hardware is no more than 2 years old to even run at all.
