Acrobat 11 - "Unable to locate the Paper Capture recognition service" We can't OCR any documents. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling and it worked for about 2 weeks. Why does this keep failing?

Our OCR ability keeps stopping.  Getting a message that it might be corrupt.  If we reinstall it will work for a week or two and then we get the same message again...Anyone have any ideas.  Getting tedious reinstalling the program...

This just started happening today! WTF is going on with Adobe?

Acrobat could not access the recognition service because:

Unable to locate the Paper Capture recognition service. Your installation may be corrupt.

This is probably due to either a low memory situation or an corrupt installation. If the problem is not cleared up by shutting down other applications and/or rebooting, then please re-install Acrobat.

late 2014 Macbook Pro 15" Retina with 16GB RAM.

I tried restarting and running my memory cleaner.

How could my installation become corrupt?

see my solution; try and copy files from the PaperCapture subfolder of Plug_ins to the Plug_ins folder.

I can't tell you where it is in Mac; I use Windows.

The issues seem to be with the path- as you get subfolders to subfolders

I just turned the mac off (rather than restarting). That seemed to work. Acrobat DC also came up with a splash screen with something about the "latest version" on it... Why can't Acrobat update the way the rest of the CC does? Seems like it does it in stealth mode which is a real PITA, since I don't know it is updating.

This issue occurs when some installation file is removed or corrupted.

- uninstall Acrobat once.

- Delete Acrobat preferences from (Regedit>HKCU>Software>Adobe> Adobe Acrobat> Version) and C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Acrobat\[version]

- reinstall Acrobat.

I hope it will resolve your issue.

Thanks.

This didn’t work. What is the cost to upgrade the program to DC and how do I go about it... I can’t spend any more time on this problem.
