Acrobat DC can't load many comments

We have the latest Version of DC, and we often experience problems when the number of comments are many. We are talking thousands of comments. In the previous Version there are no problem at all With this. We have tried several computers (all Windows 7) and several users we know are saying the same ting.

The last time DC started to struggle when we had made around 1500 comments. Then everything goes really slow and we can't save anything. We even have trouble opening the menus. Like I said everything Works fine in Version XI, and if we export the comments fra XI to DC, the DC is'nt able to load all the comments. It stops, and we can't do anything in the program.

This has happened in several files, With several computers (Windows 7) and several users have reported the same problem. Is there anythin that can be done to fix this??

Hi stvt91338007,

I am sorry for the delay in response.

You might try the following steps and see if that fixes the issue:

1- Check for updates, launch Acrobat>navigate to Help menu>select Check for updates.

2- If that doesn't work, try to disable protected view, launch Acrobat>click on Edit menu>select Preferences>click Security (Enhanced)>click Protected View>and then click Off>OK.

I would like to mention that disabling Protected View is for troubleshooting purpose only and not recommended, Please turn the feature back on after finishing the troubleshooting.

Could you please let me know the version of Acrobat DC installed on the machine?

To check the version of Acrobat, launch Acrobat>navigate to Help menu>select About Adobe Acrobat

Would it be possible for you to share the file with us? I have sent you a private message for the same, please respond to that message.

Hi. I just updated one of our Laptops With the newest Version: 2015.006.30244. I also tried to disable protected view. None of this made any difference. The problem is on every computer that we have With Acrobat DC. The program freezes when I open the Commentary menu. If I don't open the commentary menu, everything seems to be working. When I open the commentaries it starts counting the commentaries. I can open menus when it is counting (but it is slow), but as soon as it is finished counting, I can't do anything. The program makes like a freeze, and we are not able to do anything. Can't even open menus. The file we want to open Works fine in Acrobat XI, no problem at all. So we have now installed Version XI on every computer for now.

I am sorry, but I can't send you the file. It is a classified document from the police. The file contains 7057 pages, over 2300 commentaries, and the size is 958MB. I have heard of several people who has experienced the same problem With DC.

This is a major problem.  My company division of over 5,000 employees is transitioning to Acrobat DC and Reader DC.  The responsiveness of the application suffers greatly compared to previous versions.

Specifically, PDFs with many comments (1000+) become unresponsive.  I don't understand why simple text comments take so long to load.  I end up having to use a previous version of Adobe Reader to open such files.  This issue need some attention from Adobe developers.  Something got broken between version XI and DC.

I've also tried the workarounds above to no avail.
